What is Hope Team?

Hope Team is an extended tryout for the regular team. It is NOT a learn to swim program. Our CWST Junior Coaches work with your child to help them gain confidence in the pool with the "hope" they'll graduate to CWST. Check below for more info on our Hope team. 

To qualify for Hope Team, your swimmer(s) MUST be able to do the following:

• Float on his/her front and back independently
• Blow bubbles 
• Put head in water

If at swim evaluations your swimmer(s) is unable to do the above skills, she/he will not be allowed to advance to Hope Team. Due to required insurance and league dues, your registration fee will only be partially refunded.

Registration

• Registration fee: $160
• Registration for Hope Team is separate from CWST and will open on March 23 for returning swimmers and March 30 for new swimmers
• Spots are limited each season, so mark your calendars and set your alarms
• Once the spots have been filled, registration will automatically close, and you will be asked to email the Board to be placed on the waiting list in order of email received

Practices

• Our Junior Coaches are in the water with your child at all times
• Coach/child ratio is usually 1:1, but may sometimes be 1:3
• Practices are usually 4:00 - 4:30pm Monday-Friday, starting the final week of April through most of May. 
• The last Hope team practice will be the Friday before Memorial Day (May 23).

Graduation to CWST

• If at any time your child is able to float/swim for the ENTIRE length of the pool, he/she will graduate to our "Big Team"
• To move up to CWST, your child must be able to complete a lap without touching the bottom or stopping.

FAQs

• No floaties are allowed
• Parents of Hope team are not required to complete volunteer hours for hope team unless their child makes CWST
